Black & White

It was a mundane weekend when i decided to have a go with Nikon CLS with the help of Alif medieval_axer. We quickly set up a mini studio shoot in the bedroom with the aid of mom's cactus as the subject... i guessed she was wondering why these goonies smuggled 2 pots of her gardening upstairs :)

Since I didn't have a photography outing for quite some time now, I invited my niece Nadia and my family to Balik Pulau for a sunset. Just before reaching the destination, we tried the laksa janggus in Balik Pulau. Dang! it was a long queue for a taste of laksa that is not great.

It was a 15 minute window for a sunset that angled not to my expectation, nevertheless we almost had 'fun' being suck into the mud plain. Here is a shot after that almost misfortune.

Have a nice week ... :-)

Kuala Gula Bird Sanctuary

I tried birding, and the place to go last sunday was the Kuala Gula Bird Sanctuary where migratory birds are aplenty in the swampy estuary of a fishing village north of the state of Perak. We hired a boat to bring us to the surrounding areas, and it was fun.

It is something like the everglades in Florida that I used to see in the TV, and there are many scenes (not to mention, birds) that kept me clicking away such as these first 3 shots.

One of the best water scenes is the below image of a small isolated wooden shack that is used to transit the harvested cockles in the shallow waters in the surrounding area. A majestic composition which I continuously clicked at least 40-50 images.

Here the two birds that I managed to capture using long telezoom (as you can see, I am not that enthusiastic about birds, ha ha). I call them BIRDS and not by the species names like those avid birding kakis :p
